Our Science team put together a simple template for designing an imaging study on the Enable Cloud Platform. You can find a downloadable copy of this template at the bottom of the page.

Study name: Should briefly indicate the research group and topic of the study.

Study description: 1-2 paragraphs outlining the sample details and main research questions. It should include key hypotheses and cell types/biomarkers of interest, if any.

Number of experiments: How many coverslips/slides/TMAs will you be sending to Enable for imaging?

Number of samples: If you are sending whole tissue sections, how many tissue sections are you sending? If you are sending a TMA, how many samples are represented on the TMA? If you have multiple cores per tissue sample on your TMA, provide the number of tissue samples.

Type of tissue: Is this human tissue? Mouse / rat / NHP? If an animal model, any specific model used (e.g., mouse strain, genetic modifications)? Frozen or FFPE or both?

Biomarker panel: The biomarker panel is the set of biomarkers targeted by antibodies for each of your experiments. It determines which cell types and functional properties will be analyzed for each experiment. We currently offer one standard biomarker panel, which is described here. Note that studies that include image data from both the Enable Lab and externally acquired sources require overlapping biomarkers to utilize downstream analysis tools.

Metadata: Consider what clinical/sample metadata you would like to use to stratify your samples. E.g. Age, Sex, Treatment, Time since last treatment, Mutational profile, etc.. We require this information to be structured in a specific way to easily facilitate processing and linking, which is detailed on this page.
